Artist's Statement: I took this photo on the trail near the North Carolina visitor center in the Smokies. It was late afternoon and the sun was low, so I positioned myself so that the sun was blocked by a tree. I added digital filters to create a more simplified look. This image displays especially well on gallery wrapped canvas. I have produced a 36" X 56" version of this on canvas and it is magnificant - it seems to emit its own light.
